Recognizing that our curriculum during the school year is rigorous and that expectations are high for student learning, there is great value in the children having a respite during the months of summer. On the other hand, studies have shown that students lose ground during the long vacation if not provided an opportunity to keep their skills sharp. With these two perspectives in mind, as in prior years, the teachers have crafted a balanced plan specific for our school.
(Note: Parents should select the summer learning assignments that correspond to the grade that their child will be entering in the fall. For example, a student entering second grade would complete the Summer Book Program for rising 2nd graders. A child entering third grade would complete the assignments outlined for rising 3rd graders.)
2017 Summer Learning Requirements
Are you interested in having your child attend All Saints in the 2017-18 school year? We currently have openings in our Half Day Pre-Kindergarten Program and additional grade levels.
If you would like a tour of the school or to request an application, please contact Joyce D’Eugenio at (703) 393-1490 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
As a service to parents, we are again partnering with Educational Products to provide pre-packaged orders of supplies by grade level. I wish to thank Mrs. Johnson who has coordinated this project for us once again and who has incorporated a number of changes that we hope you will find to be beneficial.
There are two ways to purchase school supplies for the coming year:
- You can do your shopping on your own using our 2017-18 School Supply List as your guide.
- You can choose to purchase supplies online through our EPI Online School Supply Packs Program. Orders will be accepted through EPI through July 15th. This allows you to order your child’s school supplies and have them ready and waiting for you when you arrive for orientation!

Attention Middle School students and families:
We are looking forward to seeing you on orientation day! Come meet and greet your teachers and see your friends that you’ve missed all summer! Bring your smiles, but don’t bring all your school supplies just yet! It can be a little crazy and frantic with beginning of the year excitement on orientation day, so here are some suggestions of what to bring on orientation day and what to bring on the first day of school.
On orientation day, DO bring your locker shelves and any locker decorations you might want to put inside like magnetic white message boards, magnetic pencil cups, mirrors, or decorative magnets. Feel free to set up your locker in preparation for the first day of school! Please also bring items from the supply list such as tissues, wipes, hand sanitizer, and paper towels and leave them in your homeroom classroom.
Use the list below to identify what items to bring on the first day. Your teachers will guide you through setting up and labeling your materials during the first week of school.
Remember to save a few brown paper bags from the grocery store as they make great book covers. Check out the following for step-by-step directions on how to make a book cover from a brown paper grocery bag.
Please click on the Supply List link below which details what bring on orientation, what to bring on the first day of school, and what to leave at home for use later in the year.
Middle School Supply List to Prepare for Orientation Day
All Saints teachers have prepared a list of learning activities for each of the grade levels designed to reinforce math skills and to encourage reading during the summer break. After reviewing the assignments, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher should you have any questions.
2017 Summer Learning Program
All Saints is pleased to announce that we will transition to a one-to-one device program in the middle school beginning in the 2017-2018 academic year. Students in the program will have access to a Chromebook for their use throughout the school day and at home.
As announced at the parent meeting in May, this initiative will provide each of the students in grades six through eight with access to a Chromebook. This advancement will enable us to increase technology integration across the curriculum and expand our commitment to differentiation of learning.
What do we need to know at this time?
During the 2017-2018 academic year, all 6th & 7th grade students will receive a new Chromebook for use both at school and home. Students in 8th grade will have access to the mobile cart of Chromebooks during the school day.
The Chromebooks for 6th & 7th grade will be made available on a “lease to own” model. Parents will pay an annual fee during August and retain the device upon graduation. The fee for the first two years will be $125 with a smaller fee of $100 during the 8th grade year.
What are the next steps?
During the month of July, I will forward to all middle school parents copies of the Technology Acceptable Use Policy Handbook & Agreement, the Student/Parent Chromebook Technology Use and Support Fee Agreement, and the Chromebook Sign-Off and Pledge.
The $125 fee and corresponding forms will be due on Orientation Day, August 25th. The Chromebooks will be distributed to students during the first two weeks of school.
We look forward to implementing this program that will continue to transform the teaching and learning process at All Saints.
For the first time, All Saints was pleased to live stream our Eighth Grade Graduation Ceremony. Our thanks to Mr. Ryan Osial. an associate of Mrs. Pora, for providing us with this opportunity to share the ceremony with those who were unable to attend!
