Elementary

Our elementary school program serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade. All Saints is a dual-track parochial school offering two classes per grade level (two kindergarten classes, two first grade classes, etc.). Kindergarten and first-grade classes include both a teacher and a classroom assistant. To provide a well-rounded education, our students attend “specials” throughout the week in the areas of art, computer, library, music, physical education, and Spanish. In grades four and five, students “change classes” with the other grade level teacher for science and social studies, in preparation for the middle school experience.

Reading Program Update

Starting with the 2024-2025 school year, All Saints will be utilizing the following McGraw Hill reading programs beginning in AugustOpen Court (Grades K-2), Wonders (Grades 3-5), & Study Sync (Grades 6-8).  With a strong phonics component, the series is grounded in the Science of Reading, a recent body of research that has identified the fundamental building blocks for literacy.  Although each of the three programs is distinct and aligned with the learning needs of students at specific grade levels, they will provide a continuum from K-8 with a fully integrated reading and language arts program.  Each series includes a reading text for each student as well as abundant teaching resources, providing a clear scope and sequence for classroom implementation.

During the early days of the summer break, six of our teachers participated in Orton-Gillingham Training, a highly structured approach to literacy that breaks reading and spelling down into smaller skills involving letters and sounds and then builds on this foundation over time.

This combination of new resources and methodology will result in an even more engaging and effective reading program for our students in the year ahead.

Additional highlights, include:

  • STEM – Chromebook and iPad carts are regularly used by our faculty to provide additional learning opportunities within the classroom setting. Teachers in every classroom at All Saints utilize state-of-the-art ActivPanels.
  • Buddy Program – students in our elementary grades are paired up with students in older grades to attend Mass and participate in special buddy activities throughout the school year.
  • Junior Achievement – financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship skills are taught once a month in the classroom.
  • Senior Mentor Program – seniors from All Saints Parish work with teachers in grades K-2 to provide additional one-on-one learning opportunities for our students.
