Surprise Assembly Celebrates Mr. Conroy's 20th Year

Mr. David Conroy celebrates 20 years as principal of All Saints Catholic School.Little did Mr. Conroy know when he entered the Parish Activity Center this morning with our Pastor Fr. Lee Roos that he would find the whole school waiting for him. After weeks of preparation, Mr. Conroy’s 20th Anniversary Celebration was underway! It was an opportunity for students from every grade level to pay tribute to Mr. Conroy and thank him for his years of dedication and steady, faith-filled leadership.

Pre-Kindergarten students kicked off the presentation of gifts with a Beatles tribute (We Love You, Ya Ya), followed by spiritual bouquets, a time capsule to be opened upon retirement, a food drive for the Bethany Food Pantry in Mr. Conroy’s name, a beautiful tree of life painting, a performance of My Favorite Things, a spiral bound Prayer Book with special prayers to reference throughout the day, and a video presentation featuring images from the early days to present year. Mr. Conroy was then presented with a gift card from the students purchased through the proceeds from a secret .50 per student collection held before Easter break.

In addition to our students, teachers, staff, and parish priests, Sr. Bernadette McManigal, BVM (Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Arlington Diocese) and Sr. Karl Ann Homberg, SSJ (Assistant Superintendent for Leadership) made the trip from Arlington to be a part of this special celebration.

What a blessing Mr. Conroy is to our school community!

Race for Education Gearing Up

On Thursday, May 5, 2016, All Saints Catholic School will be participating in our 11th annual Race for Education. Our goal this year is $50,000 to help support student learning initiatives and faculty enrichment. As always, 15% of all proceeds will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Mailers are being sent out this week . . . Find out more including the May 5th race time schedule for each grade level.

Little Medical School

We are pleased to announce an exciting new partnership between All Saints Catholic School and the Little Medical School, an after school program that encourages elementary students to explore the inspiring world of health and medicine.

Through hands-on interactive demonstrations, crafts and games, the Little Medical School teaches children how the body and organs work, introduces them to medical instruments, and explores the skills that real surgeons use in surgery.

The concept is to offer small classes of 12 students led by a trained Little Medical School teacher to ensure individual attention. Our instructor will be long-time alumni parent, Mrs. Beth Ross. At the completion of the program, each child will receive a diploma and their own real stethoscope.

As part of our efforts to continue offering enriching STEM-related opportunities, we will pilot this program at the third grade level this spring. More information about the Little Medical School, including the pricing and class schedule, will be sent home shortly with each third grade student.

We look forward to this new partnership in support of student learning and the potential for expansion of this program in the future!

It's Prayer & Penny Week!

The Student Council Association (SCA) is sponsoring Prayer & Penny Week, March 7-11. Each class is asked to deposit pennies in their class bin. They can also bring in silver coins to deposit in the opposite class’ bin. Pennies will add to the class total while silver will subtract from the total. Cash will benefit your grade’s total amount.

Containers will be kept outside of each classroom and collect on Friday, March 11. The A or B class in the middle school with the highest positive amount will receive a donut/juice breakfast. The K-5 class with the highest positive amount will receive 45 minutes of recess or a movie, and all Pre-Kindergarten students will receive a popsicle party. The grade with the highest total amount will receive either an ice cream party or a dress down day.

Best of all, all money raised during Prayer & Penny Week will go to support our “Building the House” initiative!
