Catholic Schools Week Activities

All Saints join schools across our country in celebrating Catholic Schools Week, an annual opportunity to highlight our heritage and distinct mission. The theme selected for this year is Catholic Schools ~ Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service. At All Saints, this is exactly the type of community we cultivate each day. With a commitment to academic excellence and more importantly, faith formation and character development, the faculty, staff, clergy and parents are united in their efforts to provide our children with a life-changing educational experience.

During Catholic Schools Week, we pause to give thanks for the gift of Catholic education and the many blessings we share as members of the All Saints community. The following is a list of special activities planned for the weeklong celebration.

  • Sunday, January 31 – Saturday/Sunday Mass ~ All students are encouraged to wear their school uniform to Mass this weekend.
  • Monday, February 1 – Vocation Day ~ Previously recorded video testimonies from our parish priests will be shared with the students via the classroom ACTIV Boards. Students will hear about the importance of praying for vocations and how to discern their own call.
  • Tuesday, February 2 – Staff Appreciation Day ~ Teachers and students will work together to show their appreciation for members of the staff.
  • Wednesday, February 3 – Priest Appreciation Day ~ Students will offer special prayers and spiritual bouquets for our parish priests. Religion Bee for Grades 3-8 at 12:45 p.m. in the Parish Activity Center.
  • Thursday, February 4 – Student Appreciation Day ~ Dress Down Day, Free Ice Cream at Lunch and No Homework.
  • Friday, February 5 – Teacher Appreciation Day ~ Students will prepare small gifts for their teacher with the assistance of the Room Liaisons. School Mass and Virtues Ceremony (8:30 a.m.) Faculty & Staff Luncheon, hosted by the PTO, following Noon Dismissal.

All Saints Receives Major Gift Donation

We are pleased to share with you the exciting news that All Saints Catholic School has recently received a significant financial contribution from an anonymous donor.  The bequest to the school and parish includes the following gifts:

$137,000 to fund the Renovation of Restrooms in the original wing of the school (Grades 2-5 hallway)

$50,000 to Benefit Tecnología Programs

Consultation with the Diocesan Office of Planning, Construction and Facilities is now underway with the goal of the renovation work being completed during the summer months.

Of the funds allocated for technology, $10,000 will be used for the immediate purchase of a second mobile cart of Chromebooks for the middle school.  This will provide students and teachers with greater access to these learning tools and move us along the path toward one-to-one technology use in grades six through eight.  The remaining technology funding will be held in reserve as we continue planning for the next phase of technology integration at All Saints.

All Saints Catholic School is most grateful for this generous gift that will benefit our school and students for years to come!

All Saints Supports The St. Lucy Project

Thanksgiving Luncheon - Support The St. Lucy Project

Thanksgiving Luncheon Collection

Each year we gather as a school community for a cherished tradition, the Thanksgiving Luncheon. This year we included a charitable outreach to benefit The St. Lucy Project sponsored by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington.

The St. Lucy Project, located in the heart of Manassas, is a large warehouse where staff and volunteers process and distribute donations to numerous food pantries in our region.

As part of the Thanksgiving Luncheon, families in our school offered a monetary donation in support of this ministry when placing their lunch orders. Additionally, on the day of the Thanksgiving Luncheon, the Peace & Justice Players organized an “empty plate” display and collection station (see photo at left) where visitors, parents and students contributed anonymous cash donations.

School Raises Over $1,800 in Support of The St. Lucy Project

Through the generosity of many, the community of All Saints Catholic School raised $1,822.07 to benefit the St. Lucy Project as part of Catholic Schools Care About Catholic Charities Week. After we gathered for Mass on the Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception, we were delighted to personally present a check in this amount to Mr. Art Bennett, Director of Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Arlington.

We are so pleased to support The St. Lucy Project and wish continued blessings to Catholic Charities as they minister to those in need within our community.
