The Sentinel – October 5, 2016

Principal’s Message

In an effort to respond to parent requests to reduce the number of times money is requested in support of special events, in recent years a new collection procedure was initiated.  We will be continuing that process again this year. Monies needed for classroom activities and parties will be collected through your child’s teacher and will be held in an account at the parish office.

This week you will receive a letter from the teachers confirming the amount of the Activity Fee for 2016-2017.  Please return your activity fee to your child’s teacher no later than October 31.  Please remember to submit one check per child enrolled rather than combining payments into one check.

As in the past, any remaining funds at the close of the year will automatically be rolled over to your child’s grade level to defer the cost of Activity Fees for 2017-2018.

Tomorrow and Friday I will be away on retreat with the principals of our diocese.  As I gather with colleagues in West Virginia for this annual event, please know of my prayers for our school community and the needs of our families.

Veterans Day Mass, Assembly & Reception
Join us as our school community honors the commitment of the men and women who have served our country in the United States Armed Forces. We cordially invite all active duty, reserve, former and retired military personnel to attend our school Mass on Friday, November 11 at 8:30 a.m. After Mass, there will be a Veterans assembly in the PAC, followed by a reception for our honored guests in Father Kelley Hall.

Students will be receiving a packet of information through their classroom teachers about our Veterans Wall of Honor, an annual tradition through which we show our gratitude for those within our school community who have served our nation through military service. For your convenience, a link to the packet is provided at the bottom of this newsletter.
