The Sentinel – December 17, 2014

Principal’s Message

Perhaps there is no place more exciting during the month of December than an elementary school!  The anticipation for Christmas is almost tangible in the classrooms and hallways.  One of the great joys for me each year is in taking a few minutes to read the work that the students and teachers have posted on the bulletin boards.  Using words and pictures, the children have shared how they are preparing their hearts for Christmas, even identifying “gifts” that they would like to give to the Infant Savior. Amidst the busyness of these closing days of Advent, I thought you might enjoy reading a few of their heartfelt and charming thoughts.

My gifts to Jesus are….

Give food to the poor

Try harder to do things more holy

Do chores happily

Help my neighbor shovel his snow

Be a kinder person to my siblings

Always be joyful!

Give you my heart

We look forward to seeing many of you at the Christmas Pageant beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the church tomorrow evening.  With a portrayal of the Nativity Story through text and music, the presentation provides a beautiful moment of reflection for our community.

A few important reminders:

  • As the Pageant will again be taking place in the church, it is important that we maintain a spirit of reverence.
  • Once the Pageant begins, parents are asked to remain seated and to be mindful of those around them when taking photos.
  • Students in Grades K, 1, 4, and 5 are asked to dress in their Christmas Best. Some students in Grade 6 will be in costume (as noted by their character), others will be in Christmas Best. (A separate notification was sent to Grade 6 parents.)
  • Students are asked to report directly to their classrooms at 6:30 p.m.  The students will return to their homerooms following the performance where parents will meet them shortly thereafter.

On behalf of the faculty & staff of All Saints Catholic School, I wish all of you a blessed Christmas Season!  May the holiday be filled with great joy as you gather with family and friends to celebrate the birth of our Savior!

Prayer for the Third Week of Advent

Lord God, may we, your people, who look forward to the birthday of Christ, experience the joy of salvation and celebrate that feast with love and thanksgiving.  We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
