The Sentinel – March 19, 2014

March 19, 2014

Message from the Principal

Each year I enjoy reading the beautiful bulletin board displays around the school that highlight the good deeds and sacrifices offered by our students during Lent.  The heartfelt prayers and sentiments give witness to the very essence of our mission as a Catholic school.  As you continue your journey through the season, I thought you might enjoy and find inspiration from the following list of practices identified by some of our fourth and fifth grade students.

My Lenten commitment is to not eat cupcakes.

I will pray a rosary each day and think of people that are suffering while I pray.

Donate food to the food pantry.

I will help mom and dad every night.

I’m giving up my mobile devices and also sweets like chocolate.

Be more gentle.

I will give up my favorite breakfast treat, Toast Strudel.

I will prayer for the sick and ask God to give me a serving heart.

Pre-Kindergarten Openings for 2014-15

We currently have a few spots remaining in our Pre-Kindergarten Program for the 2014-15 school year. Designed for four year old children, our program offers half day classes, Monday – Thursday.  This is a great opportunity for families in our community who may be hoping to send their child to All Saints but have heard that openings are limited due to high demand.  Please invite families who may be interested in the Pre-Kindergarten program to contact Mrs. Joyce D’Eugenio at (703) 393-1490 or jdeugenio@allsaintsva.org for more information.  Current families who refer families into our program may earn up to $400.00 in tuition credit through our New Student Referral Program!

Update on Class DVDs

We now have volunteers to create DVDs for each class and each grade except for the 5th Grade. If there is one or two 5th grade parents that would like to create a DVD for the 5th grade classes then each student in the school would have the opportunity to have this nice memorial of their school year. Familiarity with editing photos, organizing computer files, and learning new computer skills would be helpful but is not necessary. I will train you and walk you through the whole process. Come join our great team of DVDs Creators! Contact me, Holly Crocker, at hollyscrocker@comcast.net for more information.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Lenten Rosary for Parents

Get your Lent off to a strong start by praying a weekly rosary with Mrs. Linda White and other All Saints School parents in the church.  Please join us each Wednesday of Lent at 2:30 in front of the large marble statue of Mary and in the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. As individual families and a school community we have many intentions, our children, their teachers, our parish and priests, to name only a few, to pray for. We hope to see and pray with many of you in the coming weeks.
