Principal’s Message

This week I wish to share with you a very special prayer intention.  Last week, Mr. Michael D’Eugenio, the husband of Joyce, our administrative assistant, was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.  He will begin chemotherapy this week and continue to receive treatments each Friday in the coming months.

Let us together remember Mr. D’Eugenio and his family in our prayers in a special way during this Advent & Christmas Season.  May they be uplifted and strengthened in the knowledge that so many of us are holding them close in thought and prayer at this time.

One of the highlights of my Advent Season each year is walking the hallways and taking a few moments to review the beautiful work of the children displayed on the bulletin boards.  Using words and pictures, the students have shared how they are preparing their hearts for Christmas, even identifying “gifts” that they would like to give to the infant Savior.  As always, their sincere sentiments are poignant and a delight to read.  Amidst the rush of the days leading up to Christmas, I thought you might enjoy a few of these words to live by.

To Jesus: I will….

Try to be better

Help out without being asked

Don’t fight with brothers

Love everybody always

Go outside more

Encourage others often.

(3rd Grader)

Dear Jesus,

As I prepare for your birth I will be reverent and kind.  I will be generous and give the gift of a baby toy that makes funny noises and three red bird eggs and I will give you my baby blanket and my baby clothes.

(2nd Grader)

Dear Jesus,

My gifts to you are…my love, my faith, my hope, to help others, prayers, be forgiving, show mercy, be kind, show respect, remember the reason for the season.

(4th Grader)

To Jesus:

A kind note, a coloring and activity pad, 9 pencils and a box of 64 crayons.

(3rd Grader)

This last one really made me smile.  This young student has decided not to simply give Jesus the twelve count box, but the deluxe 64 edition!  The message is the same – we give everything to Jesus.

On Tuesday members of the Peace & Justice Players gathered together all of the Toys for Tots that our students contributed over the course of the past two weeks.  I know that the generosity of our students will truly brighten the Christmas holiday for those less fortunate.  I also want to thank the students for their generous support of the recent Dress Down Day to benefit Catholic Charities.  With an additional contribution of approximately $50.00 from the National Junior Honor Society, All Saints will be forwarding a check in the amount of $500.00 to this organization for their use in assisting those in need in our diocesan community.

We look forward to seeing many of you at the Band Concert tonight (PAC/7:00 p.m.) and the annual Christmas Pageant beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the church tomorrow evening.  Note: For the pageant, students are asked to report directly to their classrooms at 6:30 p.m.  The students will return to their homerooms following the performance where parents will meet them shortly thereafter.

On behalf of the faculty & staff of All Saints Catholic School, I wish all of you a blessed Christmas Season!  May the holiday be filled with great joy as you gather with family and friends to celebrate the birth of our Savior!

Prayer for the Third Week of Advent

Lord God, may we, your people, who look forward to the birthday of Christ, experience the joy of salvation and celebrate that feast with love and thanksgiving.  We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
