Living Stones on the Pathway to Heaven…

Message from the Principal

On Monday evening our community gathered in the Parish Activities Center for the performance of the annual Christmas Pageant.  I wish to thank and congratulate our kindergarten, fourth, sixth and eighth grade students for a beautiful presentation of the Nativity story.  After a program of readings and carols, the evening concluded with a living Nativity Scene, portrayed by the students in the 6th grade Theater Arts class.  As the lights grew dim and Ms. Dalusung led the singing of O Come, O Come Emmanuel, those present enjoyed a moment of Advent reflection.  With the lights focused on the image of the Holy Family, a stirring scene was created, providing inspiration for young and old as we excitedly anticipate the celebration of the birth of our Savior.

The Pageant was made possible through the combined efforts of Mr. Tessier, Mrs. Lewis and Ms. Dalusung, each of whom shared their particular gifts and expertise in support of the program.  I am especially grateful to Ms. Dalusung for returning to All Saints to direct the Pageant while Mrs. Laird has been out on leave.  It was yet another sterling example of the goodness and dedication of our faculty and staff, past and present!

——————————————————————————————————————————

This week I would like to provide to you an update regarding the staffing of the first grade program. On Friday, Ms. Sarmuksnis, classroom assistant, submitted her resignation so that she might pursue employment nearer to her home.  As such, her final day at All Saints will be Wednesday, December 22nd.  We wish her every success and blessing during this period of transition and thank her for her time as a member of our school staff.

In her place, Mrs. Carolyn Helmick will be returning to her prior role of first grade classroom assistant.  Having worked with Mrs. Otaizo the past several years, she has a thorough understanding of classroom procedures and will be able to offer great assistance to Mrs. Otaizo as she approaches her due date of mid-February.  Most importantly, Mrs. Helmick has significant experience working with the first grade curriculum, as well as the Word Study approach, and has demonstrated a high level of effectiveness in this regard.  I am grateful for her commitment to our program and her willingness to return to full time employment at All Saints.

On behalf of the faculty & staff of All Saints Catholic School, I wish all of you a blessed Christmas Season! May the holiday be filled with great joy as you gather with family and friends to celebrate the birth of our Savior!

A Prayer for Advent ~ Week IV

Father, all-powerful God,

your eternal Word took flesh on our earth

when the Virgin Mary placed her life

at the service of your plan.

Lift our minds in watchful hope

to hear the voice which announces his glory,

and open our minds to receive the Spirit

who prepares us for his coming.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
