The Sentinel – Issue 10, Volume 15

Message from the Principal
On behalf of the faculty, staff and students of All Saints, I wish to thank the PTO and the entire school community for their support of our Casino and Auction Night held at Heritage Hunt on Saturday evening. Nearly 200 parents and members of the community joined us for an exciting evening of casino games and auction in support of the mission of All Saints.

I wish to extend a special word of thanks to Mr. Jerry Smith, auction coordinator. I also want to thank Mrs. Siobhan Tabor and Mrs. Denise LaRose, as well as the many members of the “auction team” who worked with great enthusiasm preparing for the event. I wish to also acknowledge the continued support of Metro Casinos, owned by Mr. Adam Morgan, a school parent. Once again he and his staff did a wonderful job of ensuring that everyone ~ experienced or novice ~ had an enjoyable experience at the tables.

Although the PTO is still finalizing the numbers, preliminary estimates indicate a profit of approximately $13,000, a significant amount particularly during this economic period. Again, thank you for your support and participation in this major fundraising effort.

With a total count of 749 pre-ordered meals, the kitchen staff estimates that we served a record number of students and parents during the 16th Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon.

I wish to thank our kitchen team ~ Mrs. Wendy Matner (Director of Cafeteria Services), Mrs. Liz Werling (Assistant), and Mrs. Wilma Marsengill (Cafeteria Bookkeeper) ~ for their tremendous commitment to both quality and quantity. Beginning during the early morning hours on Sunday, they cooked and prepared food throughout the day. (In answer to the question that many of you might be wondering…it takes about 30 turkeys to feed a community of our size!) Once again, they prepared and presented a delicious meal of turkey and sides to an enormous crowd. Thank you kitchen staff and congratulations on a job very well done!

The success of the luncheon was also made possible by the generous support of volunteers, many of whom return each year to offer assistance. It was a joy to observe so many volunteers working side by side and the hundreds of parents who stopped by to enjoy the meal. What a wonderful tradition!

This year we introduced several new procedures designed to reduce wait-time and to enhance your “dining experience”. I wish to thank Mrs. Campagna, Assistant Principal, for her leadership of this effort. With the input of several faculty and staff members, she restructured the schedule as well as arrival procedures, resulting in a more efficient and better organized process for everyone.

As we pause from our daily work and schedules to join family and friends to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, please know of my gratitude for your continued support of our school and its mission of providing an education of faith and excellence.

Happy Thanksgiving!

A Prayer of Thanksgiving:
May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face to shine upon us.
The earth has yielded its increase;
God, our God, has blessed us.
May God continue to bless us;
let all the ends of the earth revere him.
(Psalm 67)

We thank you for your gifts, merciful God,
and we ask you to give all people the food they need.
May we all be united one day
in the eternal singing of your praises,
through Christ, our Lord.
(A Prayer Book for Catholic Families)

Enrollment Survey for Pre-K, Kindergarten and NEW Students for Grades 1st – 8th
With the demand for Catholic education and the reputation for excellence that our school enjoys, it is important that the office solicit information from current families regarding plans for enrollment in our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs for the upcoming year, as well as any NEW siblings for All Saints Catholic School. As in the past, we will continue to give first consideration to current school families before reviewing new applications in the spring.
While completion of the enclosed survey does not guarantee enrollment, it is helpful for us to know how many current families plan to apply. Even if you have a child currently enrolled in the Pre-Kindergarten program, it is important that you notify us of your interest for next year’s Kindergarten. Please submit all survey responses as soon as possible as the deadline has passed.
