Principal’s Message

On Friday teachers of students in grades three through seven attended a diocesan training session on the interpretation of the Scantron Performance Series testing.  With access to both individual scores as well as an overview of the class performance, each teacher is now better able to identify the learning needs of each classroom of learners.  With this said, it is important that we note that the most important aspect of these scores is that they represent a benchmark to measure future growth.  As the software has determined the mastery level of each student tested in the areas of math, reading and language arts, the second and third round of testing will measure student progress.  The teachers look forward to sharing copies of the scores and an explanation as to how to interpret them during the Parent-Teacher conferences next week.

This week I also wish to share with you an important update regarding our tuition assistance program.  After careful evaluation of the financial aid process and feedback from individual schools, the diocese recently announced that we will be partnering with FACTS Management to be the provider of financial aid assessment beginning with the 2017-2018 school year.  Many of you are already familiar with FACTS since it previously served us as the provider of financial aid assessment services for many years.  All Saints Catholic School will also continue to partner with FACTS for the processing of tuition payments.

Families applying for financial aid will need to complete an online application.  The processing fee for this service is $30 per year/per family.  A link to the new application which is now available and a flyer with additional details follows below.  Should you have any questions about this process, please do not hesitate to contact the office.

And for some insights into how we are beginning to integrate IPads in the primary level classrooms, enjoy the message below from Mrs. Campagna.

Report Cards & Parent-Teacher Conferences
On Friday teachers will distribute first quarter report cards to students in grades 1-8 and progress reports for those in Kindergarten.  In preparation for the parent-teacher conferences next week, please take some time to review all of the information provided by the teacher, noting any special areas of success or difficulty.  Additionally, we encourage you to speak with your child to determine if there is anything that he or she would like you to address with the teacher.  Please feel free to make a list of any questions or concerns that you wish to discuss during the conference.  Recognizing that experiences in the home also affect a child’s performance at school, the conference provides an opportunity to discuss any changes in routine, significant events, such as the death of a close relative or pet, or any other occurrences that might be affecting your child.  The better the teacher understands the specific needs of each of the children, the better he or she will be able to assist them in their learning.

From the Spirit Event Committee:
Thanks to all of you who have supported our Spirit Events this year. Our next Spirit Event will be held on Friday, November 11th from 6:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. at Chick fil-A on Liberia Avenue. A number of families have gone to other stores, but unfortunately the school only receives 20% of the purchases if made at Liberia Avenue. Apparently the Chick fil-A stores divide up the schools according to the area and we are targeted to have events with the Liberia Avenue store only. We hope to see you there as it is a noon dismissal!

Box Tops for Education
Keep turning in those Box Tops and Soup Labels. For the November submission, we turned in 15,947 box tops. That’s $1,594.70 for our school. Yeah, Go All Saints! Here are the top 4 collection classrooms:

693 – Pre-K1, 2 & 3 Mrs. Parriott/Mrs. Rogers
519 – 3A Mrs. Montano
484 – 2B Mrs. Burnett
